What the service is
SolarPayback provides free, browser-based calculators and reference pages about residential solar payback. The calculators apply standard arithmetic to the numbers you enter and to stated assumptions. They are planning aids for education and initial research.
No professional advice
Nothing on this site is tax, legal, engineering, financial or consumer advice, and no professional relationship is created by using it. Estimates are simplified models: your roof’s orientation, shading, local weather, utility rate schedule, installation quotes and incentive eligibility all vary. Before purchasing a system, obtain written quotes from licensed installers and confirm current incentives and tax treatment with the official sources and, where relevant, a qualified tax professional.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the calculators will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that figures reflect the latest legislative or utility changes at every moment. Policy data carries a review date; treat older dates as a signal to verify independently.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SolarPayback and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from decisions made on the basis of site content — including purchase decisions, contract terms, tax outcomes or foregone savings. Use of the estimates is at your own discretion and risk.
Acceptable use
You may use and link to the site freely, including for personal and commercial research. You may not repackage the calculators under another brand, resell access to them, scrape the site at volumes that degrade service, or misrepresent the output as professional advice. Automated access should respect standard robots directives.
Intellectual property
The site’s text, layout, code and visual design are the property of the site’s operators. Public data cited from NREL, EIA, IRS and Energy.gov remains the property of its respective sources.
Changes
We may revise these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will update the review date on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
